Managing emotions in the workplace is an important part of today’s health and wellbeing at work agenda – and looking after your own and others’ mental health at work is rightly receiving much attention within the workplace.

This session will introduce Daniel Goleman’s five components of Emotional Intelligence and we’ll look at how an understanding of Emotional Intelligence can help improve mental health at work.

This event is suitable if you work on your own or work in a team – the session is also suitable for anyone who manages others – or is managed by others!

We’ll be looking at simple, everyday techniques that can be used to help manage emotions at work as well as giving you an opportunity to share your own tips and techniques for remaining calm when you’re feeling stressed, tired and…emotional.

Jon has recently completed a four year project to help Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust improve patient experience and looking at emotional intelligence formed a key part of the project.

Developing Leaders – JCI Nottingham

In this session we will answer two key questions:

What is leadership and how can you develop leadership skills.

During this leadership skills workshop, we will look at a simple definition of leadership and then spend time considering what you can personally do to develop as a leader.

This event is suitable for everyone, regardless of whether you are currently in a formal leadership/management role or not. The session will give you plenty of opportunity, as usual, to network with others and to hear examples of real life leadership role models.

We’re going to keep this JCI event light on theory but…. we will provide links to further reading and resources if you want to find out more about leadership theories after the event.

This session will be facilitated by Jon Colman of Red Vanilla. Jon has been designing and delivering leadership and management development programmes for over 25 years and takes a highly practical, fun and enjoyable approach to this serious topic.
